My name is Julie Sylber. It gives me a lot of pleasure to be an educator at Our Lady of Peace
Elementary School. My son graduated from OLP, and I am excited to give back to the school
community that provided a strong educational and religious foundation for my son.
I am a retired elementary school teacher. I taught for 38 1⁄2 years in LAUSD. For most of my
teaching career, I taught 5th grade. I loved the content of 5th grade and the maturity of the
students. For the other portion of my career, I taught 2nd grade. During this time, I enjoyed the
children’s excitement and their wonder at learning. As an educator here at OLP, I am in awe at
the children’s love of God and their commitment to living a life of kindness, learning, and
reverence.
