Respect
From Latin roots, the word "respect" means to look back (reflect). People who understand and show respect are those who honor themselves and others with their words and actions. In some cases respect is used to describe a person who is highly regarded. They are kind, caring, sensitive to the feelings of the other and offer a helping hand without being prompted. They take time to notice and listen to people with genuine interest. They strive to understand different perspectives and have high regard for diversity and the dignity of all people. They understand that rules are needed to ensure the rights and safety of everyone, but are willing to take risks when certain rules are unfair and unjust.
